19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with long-term mentor Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

His defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
